Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) is an engineered wood product made by separating hardwood or softwood residuals into wood strands, mostly in a defibrator, mixing it with wax and wood adhesive, and shaping boards by applying high temperature and pressure. MDF is commonly denser than plywood. It is comprised of isolated wood strands, yet can be utilized as a structure material comparable in application to plywood. It is more rigid and a lot denser than particle board.
